Camber Docks Info

Welcome to the Camber Dock in Old Portsmouth where Ken Brown Boats Limited, agents for Portsmouth International Port run the Camber Harbour Office which can be found in East Street Camber Quay Old Portsmouth PO1 2JJ.

Set in the most historic part of the city the Camber Dock is home to the Wight Link IOW ferry service, many local fishing vessels, commercial barges and work boats, Portsmouth Sailing Club KB Boat Park dry stack and a number of private yachts and motor boats.

Visitors are always welcome at the Camber Dock and a number of marine related services are available. If you are planning on visiting, please take a few minutes to read the following important information.

 Camber Dock

 SLIPWAY

There is a concrete slipway at the Camber Dock and this can be used by the public to launch and recover their boats. Access is by means of a coin operated barrier and the current charge is £2.50 per launch / recovery.

Please note, the Camber Dock is a working dock and therefore unrestricted access to the slipway cannot be guaranteed at all times. In addition, we would draw your attention to the fact that although the slipway is pressure washed and chemically treated on a regular basis, it is by its nature a slippery environment and care should be taken when using this facility.

Members of the public wishing to use the slipway for launching have the use of a dedicated trailer park. Access is free, subject to availability and limited to 24hrs. Please be sure to lock / disable your trailer when leaving it in the trailer park

VISITING PRIVATE YACHTS

You are welcome to moor your yacht at the Camber Dock and short stays and overnight visits can be accommodated. The Camber Dock is an ideal location with a number of pubs, restaurants and fish markets just metres from the quay. It is also a short walk away from the prestigious Gunwharf Quays development with its numerous shops, cafes and bars and tourist attractions and close to the Historic Dockyard - home to HMS Victory, The Warrior and The Mary Rose.

Camber Dock mooring fees should be paid to Ken Brown Boats who are the appointed agents for Portsmouth International Port. Their office is situated by the slipway. Fees are as follows: -

Short Stay (up to 3 hours) - Vessels under 8m £ 4.30
                                        Vessels 8m or over £ 6.90

Overnight (up to 24 hours) - Vessels under 9m £10.90
                                         Vessels 9m to 10m £12.10
                                         Vessels over 10m £ POA

The best location for mooring (particularly overnight) is the quay wall adjacent to the Bridge Tavern. As there is a large tidal range in Portsmouth Harbour, we would advise all visiting vessels to ensure they have sufficient warps, fenders, etc.

LINE FISHING FROM THE QUAYSIDE

Fishermen are reminded that whilst it is permissible to line fish from the Camber Dock quayside this area of water is primarily a navigation channel for private and commercial vessels entering and leaving the Camber Dock and priority must be given to all such vessels. It is important that fishermen stay alert and when necessary withdraw their lines to avoid them fouling the outdrives of boats using the Camber Dock.
