Q1 HOW DO I BOOK A LAUNCH?
A1 You can book your launches anytime between 0900hrs and 1700hrs by calling into the office or telephoning 023 9283 3166.

IMPORTANT: if this number is not answered please call the yard mobile on 07733 880260 as during busy times the office staff may be assisting with launches.

Launch bookings may also be made via our email: info@kb-boatpark.co.uk, but must be received by 16:45 hrs on the day prior to your requested launch.

Please do not attempt to make a booking by text as these are often not read during the course of a busy day

Launch bookings left on the answer-phone after 1700hrs are subject to the minimum notice periods from 0900hrs the following morning.

To ensure you get the most benefit out of our launch and recovery service please take note of the following: -

• To ensure you are launched on time please adhere to the minimum launch notice periods especially during high season. We expect 2011 to be a busy year!

• When requesting a launch please give your name, boat name / type and importantly your boat number.

• Our web site is fully operational and you can visit it at www.kb-boatpark.co.uk. It features a live link to Bramblemet, a local weather station giving accurate assessment of the wind, temperature and sea conditions.

Q3 WHAT IF I'M RUNNING LATE?
A3 Berth holders who have booked a launch should arrive promptly to collect their boat from the launch area/pontoon. We appreciate that it is difficult for those travelling from outside the area or with family commitments to be exact about arrival times but a call to the yard to warn of delays or cancellations is always helpful. Boats not collected from the launch area within an hour may be taken back out of the water if the yard has not been notified of any delays.

When arriving to collect your boat, please ensure that you have informed a member of staff that you are taking it. Failure to do so could result in the embarrassment of having your boat reported stolen whilst you are using it!

Q4 WHAT IF I NEED TO USE MY BOAT OUTSIDE OF YOUR NORMAL OPENING HOURS?
A4
If you wish to use your boat early in the morning, we will launch you the previous evening so that your boat is ready for you on the holding pontoons when you arrive.

If you return to the Boat Park after we have closed, you can leave your boat on the pontoons overnight and we will recover it the next day.

KB Boat Park has two pontoons, but it is vital that all boat owners are aware of where it is permissible to moor and where it is not. Please be aware that the Camber is home to a number of private and commercial craft. It is very important that Boat Park customers do not inconvenience these craft. If in doubt, ask a member of The Dry Stack Team.

Q5 WHEN CAN I DELIVER MY BOAT TO THE YARD?
A5
If you are on a 12-month dry berthing contract you can bring your boat to the park whenever you wish and your contract will start from that date. If you are dry berthing your boat for the summer period only, we will be happy to receive your boat onto the park anytime after 31st March. If you need to bring your boat before that date, please call to make sure we are able to receive it before arriving.

If you have not already done so, please ensure we have received your signed berthing agreement, a copy of your certificate of insurance and payment before delivering your boat to us. Unfortunately, due to stringent insurance and health and safety regulations we cannot accept boats onto the Boat Park or take any launch bookings without the above.

Q6 CAN I KEEP MY TRAILER WITH YOU?
A6
All dry berthed boats are kept on specially designed racks and therefore we do not require the trailer. However, should you wish to leave your boat's trailer at the park, we have a limited number of spaces available for trailer storage. If you would like to leave your trailer with us please contact the office. Whilst we will try to accommodate as many trailers as possible, space is limited and will be allocated on a "first come first served" basis. Please also note that once stored, your trailer may not be accessible at short notice.

Q8 ARE THERE ANY HARBOUR REGULATIONS I NEED TO OBSERVE?
A8
QHM Portsmouth are still rigorously enforcing the regulations for boats entering and leaving Portsmouth Harbour. On slipping from the pontoons and again when in the vicinity of the Camber entrance you are required to call up QHM on Channel 11 and request to cross from Camber Docks to Ballast Pile and upon return request to cross from Ballast Pile to Camber Docks. Boats entering and leaving the Harbour should use the small boat channel on the Gosport side.

If you are unsure of what to do, please ask a member of the Dry Stack Team, who will be happy to run through the necessary procedures.

The current regulations insist that all boats carry a VHF radio for which a licence is required. Many of you already have VHFs fitted to your boat and hopefully hold the relevant licence. If you do not have one, we are able to supply waterproof handheld VHF transmitters or supply and fit fixed units to your boats.

If you do not hold a valid VHF licence we can arrange for you to attend a VHF course
here at the Boat Park - just call the office on 023 9283 3166 or e-mail

Q9 WHY DO YOU NEED A SET OF KEYS FOR MY BOAT?
A9
As our pontoon space increases it can become time-consuming, difficult and in windy conditions unwise to move boats to and from the launch area purely by hand. It is therefore imperative that we hold a spare set of keys to each boat on the park. This also ensures availability of spare keys should you arrive without yours and allows engineers to service and repair your engine and electronics. Please Note: Boats may not be launched unless a spare key is deposited with the KB office.

Q10 WHAT IF MY BOAT BREAKS DOWN?
A10
If your boat will not start and you are on the holding pontoons, members of The Dry Stack Team may (subject to availability) be able to assist you to get the boat started. For more serious problems, our mechanic is normally around most days and (subject to availability) may be able to fix any problem.

However, we would strongly recommend that you join SEA START (like the AA but for boats). They will attend to your boat should you not be able to get it started or break down whilst under way. They operate numerous rescue boats on a 24-hour, 365-day basis. KB Boat Park are agents for SEA START and can get you immediate cover. Please contact the office for details.
